Storm Season

Two nights ago this big storm cloud came up from the south and looked as if it could bring some pretty serious rain.
However, it blew out to nothing and all we got were a few spits of rain.
Last night there were no spectacular clouds - just gray overcast which gradually got darker until we had a most spectacular storm with lightning, thunder, hail and 44 mm of rain. (about an inch and three quarters on the old scale!)

  5. Gorgeous captures! Both of them are different but both are superb. You got some terrific captures! Interesting that the one that looked like a storm brought nothing! They're good at fooling us and I suspect someone "up there" gets a big kick out of our reactions! Have a great weekend!

  6. No wonder weather forecasters have such a tough time predicting what will happen tomorrow. :)

  8. That first one does look like an impressive cloud - we sometimes get them like that in the summer. And the second shot is nice too!

  10. I love the way the light hits the edges of the cloud in that first shot, just beautiful against the deep blue of the sky.

  11. I can't help it but I love the drama of stormy clouds. It is like the gathering of the elements and then the release with thunder, lightening, rain and wind, natures great opening symphony. Your cloud pictures look spectacular.

  15. Hail and 44mm - yikes! Sounds like us last weekend. We're back to clear blue skies, though it's supposed to drizzle a bit tomorrow.
